I discovered Lola Wright on Kristen’s Ashley’s Facebook Group. Someone was trying to remember the name of the MC series, which had a skateboarding pig and a foul-mouthed parrot. After reading that, I had to investigate. I read the first five books in a week and waited impatiently for book number six. Read her latest book The Devil’s Angels MC: Book 6 – Pigeon or start from the beginning and read the entire series today! You won’t regret it. Lola took time from her busy schedule, writing about foul-mouthed parrots and motorcycle men to answer my five burning questions. Check out her answers and her books.
Q: Let’s start with Kill, Marry, or Screw? Name three fictitious book boyfriends. Which one of the Devil’s Angels?
A: Kill: Big from Bink Cummings MC Chronicles Series. Marry: Vance from Kristen Ashley’s Rock Chick Series. Screw: Remington from Katy Evans The Real Series. From my series, The Devil’s Angels, I would love to have a real-life Axel in my world. He’s fun, doesn’t take himself too seriously, and loves unconditionally.
Q: Do you remember the first romance book you ever read? Can you tell me about it? I think mine was Bitch by Jackie Collins, and I was about 10 or 11
A: I think Janet Dailey was my first romance author. The Calder Saga. It’s western in theme and that caught my attention. I’ve always had horses, and grew up riding, so it was a perfect series to start with for me. Danielle Steele wrote a book called Palomino, and it was another favorite for the same reasons.
Q: What types of romance would you like to write but haven’t yet?
A: I definitely want to write a cowboy/western type romance book or series but also paranormal. I’m writing a paranormal novella for an anthology due out in 2024 so I’m hoping that’s a good way to ease into a full book/series if I can write one. I’m nervous but so excited to try writing something that’s out of my comfort zone. I’ve only written motorcycle club romance so far, so paranormal will definitely be a challenge for me.
Q: What are you reading right now? Do you have a favorite book/series/genre?
I’m currently reading Patricia Briggs book Cry Wolf. I have too many favorite books to name and I like several genres. Paranormal, MC, western, contemporary, and true crime are the genres I’m usually reading, but I’ve been known to stray a bit. I’m a huge fan of Scott Hildreth, Jennifer Armentrout, Beth Flynn, and Tillie Cole, to name just a few. I find it hard to read MC books while I’m writing one, so I hit up other genres during those times.
Q: What was the inspiration for your new book?
The Devil’s Angels MC Series: Book 6 – Pigeon is my latest release. Pigeon was a character that was in the background during the beginning books to this series, but he wouldn’t remain quiet in my head. Ivy, the female lead, was a character I’ve always wanted to write and I felt Pigeon, with his background, would be perfect for her. She’s strong, but sweet, and determined about her path in life. Animals/pets are an integral part of my world so writing Ivy, and her love of animals was easy for me.
Q: For bonus points, what’s your favorite swear word?
A: No doubt, it’s fuck. Though when little ears are close, I say Pig Dog. That’s all my worst swear words rolled into one phrase.
