Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is my favorite TV show!

UnbreakableKimmyUnbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a new Netflix comedy series created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock and starring Ellie Kemper.

Season one is 13-episodes and has been given a two-season order. The show’s premise centers around 29-year old Kimmy Schmidt’s adventures as she adjusts to New York City after her rescue from an Indiana doomsday cult. The pilot opens with her rescue from the cult’s underground bunker.

Kimmy moves to New York while trying to find her feet in the big city.  She ends up through a comedy of errors, living in the closet of Titus Andromedon, a gay Broadway singer also trying to make it in the big city after 20 years of struggling.   Kimmy loses all her money ($15K) on her first night which means she must get a job.  Again through a comedy of consequences she ends up on the door step of  Manhattan trophy wife Jacqueline Voorhees played perfectly by Jane Krakowski.

I love Kimmy because she sees New York through new eyes but she’s not stupid.  She was the mother figure in the bunker tang care of all her other “Mole Women”.  Now out in the big world she tries to take care of her pack of colorful misfit friends, too many to mention here.

The cast is fun and the writing is like a breath of fresh air.  You’ll want to binge watch the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt like a box of Crispy Creme donuts.  Don’t do it, you’ll regret it.  Despite Kimmy’s sweetness, the show should be savored because a show like this is one of a kind.  My hope is that Kimmy stays unique and doesn’t end up as common as a Crispy Creme donut.  Kimmy needs to stay rare like a Cronut.

  • Oh my goodness! It is like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, just like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the content home a bit, besides that, this is helpful blog post. A outstanding read. I will certainly return again.
